Active Listening Skills
A two-hour trainer-led course on listening well at work
Overview
A two-hour beginner-level session covering what active listening is, why people fail to listen, and the techniques that fix it — including the RASA process, body language, and four ways of probing. The pack gives a trainer a fully scripted session with six timed activities, plus workbook, certificates and admin forms, all editable and licensed for unlimited delivery in person or online.
Format. Two hours. Designed for classroom delivery and adaptable to live online sessions.
Who it is for. Written for trainers, facilitators and HR teams delivering listening-skills training; the course itself is pitched at beginners and suits employees at any level.
What delegates take away
- Discuss what active listening is and why it is important.
- Identify the distractions, assumptions and habits that stop people listening effectively.
- Apply the four-step RASA process — receive, appreciate, summarise, ask — in conversation.
- Use paraphrasing, clarifying, reflecting and summarising to probe and confirm understanding.
- Read and manage body language as both listener and speaker.
