Overview
A scenario-based, self-paced e-learning course on employee engagement and motivation at work. Managers step into a one-on-one with someone who still hits their deadlines but has stopped contributing anything beyond them, choose how to respond, and see whether the person opens up or shuts the conversation down — then learn the approach that surfaces what actually motivates them and rebuilds their investment in the work. Delivered as a SCORM 1.2 package for your LMS, with completion tracking.
Format. Self-paced, scenario-based e-learning. SCORM 1.2 — upload it to your LMS and completion tracks automatically.
Runtime. About 23 minutes of learner time, in 4 sessions the package spaces 2, 5 and 30 days apart. Measured from the narration in the package at the speed it plays, plus the time to read and answer what is on screen. It assumes you listen rather than reading ahead; times vary with the path you take and how fast you read.
Who it is for. Any organisation that wants to run this as self-paced learning; suitable for employees at any level.
What learners take away
- Identify what employee engagement is, how engaged employees behave, and the benefits of an engaged workforce.
- Distinguish engagement from related concepts including motivation, job satisfaction and commitment.
- Pinpoint the areas that affect engagement, from work environment and job arrangements to leadership, and select strategies to improve it.
- Develop an action plan to address specific engagement challenges in their own team.
Course outline
Participants define engagement, examine how engaged and disengaged employees behave across four engagement levels, test common myths in a true-or-false exercise, and review the benefits of an engaged workforce.
Compares engagement with motivation, job satisfaction and commitment, and works through how the four concepts differ and interconnect.
Covers the challenges and areas that shape engagement — the social, physical and mental work environment, job arrangements, and leadership and organization — and how to choose engagement strategies.
Each participant starts an action plan that addresses a specific engagement challenge in their own team, using the supplied handouts.
